Crypto Wallets In The African Space 2.

You're definitely reading this article because you have an idea or an understanding of cryptocurrency and crypto wallets, because you surely don't believe it's about actual leather wallets. I have written a previous article about a couple of crypto wallets in the African space but I decided to write a second article because they're just too many wallets to write only one article about it.

I've written several other articles explaining about blockchain which would help you understand the basics of it all. Yes, I'm telling you to go read my other articles.

As explained in the previous article, crypto wallets are software programs that store cryptocurrency keys for cryptocurrency transactions, just like a regular wallet that holds your money and other things dear to you. However unlike the regular wallet, a cryptocurrency wallet doesn't just keep your cryptocurrency key, it offers the functionality of encrypting and/or signing information.

Crypto wallets are a necessary item you should have in your arsenal for easy buying and selling cryptocurrencies. It is essential because traders use them to keep crypto keys and/or coins safely, also to safeguard and validate transaction details.

Having explained all that, these a few more crypto wallets in the African space:

  • 1inch Wallet.

  • Phantom.

  • Bundle Africa.

  • Abra.

  • XDEFI Wallet.

1inch Wallet

1inch wallet is a mobile wallet developed in May 2019, by Anton Bukov and his team of blockchain developer creators behind the decentralized exchange(DEX) of the same name. The wallet was developed to provide investors and traders with effortless access to the large DeFi market, and the wallet accomplished this by packaging a quick and secure crypto wallet with token swapping functionality provided by the 1inch DEX aggregator into a light and portable mobile application.

Traders and investors can use the wallet to store, trade and transfer cryptocurrency keys and/or coins. The wallet is very much focused on minimalism, designed to ensure that beginner-friendly for those who have clear interests and intentions to join DeFi market without settig up a wallet or dealing with how to use a new one.

1inch primarily owes its reputation to the 1inch DEX liquidity aggregator, which used to rank among the top 5 DEX.

Phantom

Phantom is a digital wallet tailored for Solana and Ethereum. It is recognized as a Solana wallet.

Launched in 2021, the Solana Phantom wallet is a multi-functional and multi-device application that offers storage for multiple types of cryptographic assets for one of the fastest blockchains in the world with over a million users. The Phantom wallet provides a welcoming solution for DeFi adoption on the Solana blockchain.

The Solana Phantom wallet is renowned for its multi-pronged approach to security, both to user's assets and data. It offers features one would expect from modern DeFi wallets such as decentralisation, cryptographic security, and fast transaction confirmation.

Bundle Africa

Bundle is a social payments app for cash or cryptocurrency that was founded August 2019 by Yele Bademosi. It is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. It is available in over 36 countries in Africa.

Bundle Africa is a financial services and technology company that operates a cryptocurrency wallet. Bundle offers financial services such as instant cash or crypto transfer/trading using it cashlink peer-to-peer services cryptocurrency, it allows users store cryptocurrencies and earn interest over a period of time.

Abra

Abra is a global cryptocurrency exchage and custodial wallet that was founded in 2015, by Bill Barhydt. It offers crypto services to investors in more than 150 countries. It's a financial and technology company that operates a cryptocurrency wallet service including a trading services for buying and selling cryptocurrencies, a service for earning interest on cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.

XDEFI Wallet

XDEFI is a cross-chain wallet extension. XDEFI is a non-custiodial wallet that allows you to securely swap, store, and send NFTs and crypto across 14 blockchains. It is known as a "one wallet for all your crypto".

XDEFI wallet was the first wallet developed for all the multichain era, it provides:

  • A customisable gallery that allows users to display and manage NFTs from most NFT marketplaces.

  • Access and interact with over 9000 dApps from ten different blockchains.

  • Permissionless cross-chain swaps within the wallet.

  • Stake and earn from within the wallet.

After writing another article about crypto wallets in the African space, I'm pretty sure that there are still more that we're not aware of. I hope this article was light and simple enough to read.
